Lovište
End of the road, start of the quiet
About the village
Lovište sits on the far western tip of the peninsula, where the road ends. Its deep, sheltered bay is one of the safest anchorages in this part of the Adriatic, so the village has always faced fishing and boats.
There are only a few hundred permanent residents and everyone knows everyone. There is no crowding and no passing traffic, because you only come here on purpose. If you want silence and a mooring, this is the place. If you need a school and a doctor nearby, it is not.
The season is short and clearly defined. The konobas and apartments work from June to September, and by November the village closes and stays closed until spring. The nearest proper shop, school and doctor are in Orebić, about forty minutes along a narrow road. That is the real price of this quiet and it should be taken seriously.
The bay faces northwest and is well protected from the jugo, which makes Lovište popular with boat owners who leave their vessel here all summer. What sells is mostly older houses and land on the slopes above the bay. For the same proximity to the sea, prices are lower here than in Orebić or Viganj, precisely because of the distance to everything else.
